Spaghetti with Homemade Tomato Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 4-6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 5 tablespoons olive oil
- 500 grams Italian tomatoes (pureed)
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Pepper, to taste
- Spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese or cheese of your choice, for garnish

Instructions:
1. Prepare the Sauce:
- Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add finely chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in chopped garlic cloves and cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the Italian tomatoes puree, season with salt, sugar, and pepper according to taste.
- Allow the sauce to simmer gently for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.
2. Cook the Pasta:
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot.
3. Combine Sauce and Pasta:
- Pour the prepared tomato sauce over the cooked spaghetti in the pot.
- Toss the spaghetti gently with the sauce until well coated.
4. Serve:
- Divide the sauced spaghetti among serving plates or bowls.
- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese or cheese of your choice.
- Serve hot and enjoy!

- Add cooked vegetables like mushrooms, carrots and bell peppers or cooked chicken to the sauce for a heartier version.
- For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes or diced chili peppers to the sauce.
