1. Prepare the Sauce:

- Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

- Add finely chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

- Stir in chopped garlic cloves and cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

- Pour in the Italian tomatoes puree, season with salt, sugar, and pepper according to taste.

- Allow the sauce to simmer gently for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.

2. Cook the Pasta:

- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

- Add spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

- Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot.

3. Combine Sauce and Pasta:

- Pour the prepared tomato sauce over the cooked spaghetti in the pot.

- Toss the spaghetti gently with the sauce until well coated.

4. Serve:

- Divide the sauced spaghetti among serving plates or bowls.

- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese or cheese of your choice.

- Serve hot and enjoy!

- Add cooked vegetables like mushrooms, carrots and bell peppers or cooked chicken to the sauce for a heartier version.

- For a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes or diced chili peppers to the sauce.

- Experiment with different types of pasta shapes like penne, fettuccine, or linguine.

- Incorporate fresh herbs like basil, oregano, or parsley for added flavor.
